A Lamaxa louvred pergola combines adjustable aluminium louvres with a stable, made-to-measure roof system. Depending on the model, the louvres can rotate or retract to control sunlight, shade and ventilation. As part of the WAREMA range of patio covers , it can be installed freestanding or attached to the building and supplemented with side elements, lighting, radiant heaters and smart controls.
WAREMA Lamaxa is a modular family of patio roof systems. The aluminium louvred pergolas are available with rotating or retractable louvres. Alternative versions include the Lamaxa L50 View with a transparent glass roof and the Lamaxa L50 Tex with movable awning fabric.
This range allows the roof, installation type and equipment to be coordinated with the required sun shading, weather protection and architecture.

The modular Lamaxa L50 roof system is available with rotating aluminium louvres, as the L50 View with transparent glass roofing, or as the L50 Tex with retractable awning fabric. Choose the version according to the required balance of shade, daylight and protection from rain.
The Lamaxa L60 uses rotating aluminium louvres to regulate shade, daylight and natural ventilation. When closed, the louvred roof provides protection from rain. Water is drained through the integrated gutters and posts.
The Lamaxa L70 combines rotating and fully retractable louvres. Open the roof for an unobstructed view of the sky, adjust the louvres for controlled shade, or close them for protection from rain. Operation is via radio control or compatible smart controls.

Suitable accessories extend the comfort and functionality of a Lamaxa louvred pergola. Depending on the model, you can add vertical ZIP awnings, sliding elements made from glass, wood or aluminium, integrated lighting, radiant heaters, outdoor sockets and smart controls. Weather sensors can automatically adjust the system in response to sun, wind or rain.

A louvred pergola consists of an aluminium frame and adjustable roof louvres. The louvres can be rotated to regulate sunlight, shade and ventilation. Depending on the model, they can also be fully retracted.
When closed, the louvres provide protection from rain and direct water into an integrated drainage system. A louvred pergola is also referred to as a louvre roof or aluminium slat roof. In North America, the spelling louvered pergola is commonly used.
Lamaxa remains an open outdoor structure and is not a completely watertight enclosed room.
WAREMA offers three main louvred models:
- Lamaxa L50 with rotating aluminium louvres
- Lamaxa L60 with rotating louvres for larger areas
- Lamaxa L70 with rotating and fully retractable louvres
The systems can be installed freestanding or attached to a building. Lamaxa L50 View with a glass roof and Lamaxa L50 Tex with awning fabric provide additional roof options.
Depending on the configuration, the louvres can be controlled using a WMS hand-held transmitter, the WMS app or compatible voice control. Lighting, radiant heaters and vertical awnings can also be integrated into the control system. Weather sensors allow automatic responses to changing sun, wind or rain conditions.
The price depends on the model, dimensions, installation, roof type and selected accessories. Lighting, side elements, radiant heaters and smart controls also affect the final cost.
The permissible snow load depends on the Lamaxa model, dimensions, structural design and local snow-load requirements. The louvres must be in the specified position, and the applicable operating instructions must be followed. A specialised retailer will check the project requirements and identify suitable options for increasing the permissible load where necessary.

The powder-coated aluminium components can be selected from the WAREMA Colour World. It includes coordinated colours, surface textures and gloss levels for different architectural styles. Additional colours may be available on request. A Lamaxa specialised retailer can provide information about the options for the selected model.
The aluminium components receive a powder-coated finish with chrome-free pretreatment. The coating complies with the GSB AL 631 requirements of the German Quality Association for the Coating of Building Materials.
Available surface textures include:
- Satin finish: smooth surface with a slight sheen
- Matt: smooth surface with a reduced gloss level
- Fine texture: finely structured matt surface
A highly weather-resistant coating is also available in combination with selected matt surfaces. Additional finishes and special versions may be available on request.
Planning and building requirements differ by country, region and municipality. They can depend on the size, installation type, distance from property boundaries and local development regulations.
The property owner is responsible for checking the applicable requirements with the relevant authority. The costs of permits, foundations and other preparatory work should also be included in project planning. A specialised retailer can provide product and installation information but cannot replace approval by the responsible authority.
The louvres should be positioned so that they limit direct sunlight while allowing useful daylight to enter. Their optimal orientation depends on the direction of the patio, the building and nearby windows.
General planning guidance:
- For south-, south-east- or south-west-facing patios, the louvres should generally run parallel to the house wall.
- For north-, east- or west-facing patios, they should generally run perpendicular to the house wall.
- For Lamaxa L70 installed near the building, the retracted louvre package should preferably be positioned away from the house to reduce shading of interior rooms.
The final orientation should be determined for the individual property during planning.
The louvre angle determines how much direct sunlight and daylight enter the covered area. In summer, the louvres can be positioned to block high-angle sunlight while allowing air to circulate. In cooler seasons, a more open angle allows more daylight to reach the patio and adjacent rooms.
The connecting cables for the selected accessories are preassembled at the factory. The following on-site connections are currently specified:
- Lamaxa L50, L60, L70 and L50 Tex: one 5 × 2.5 mm² connecting cable
- Lamaxa L50 View: one 3 × 2.5 mm² connecting cable
The exact electrical requirements must be confirmed for the selected configuration and installation.
Lamaxa is an open aluminium outdoor structure and cannot provide the watertightness of an enclosed building. When the louvres or glass roof are closed, they provide protection from rain from above. Integrated gutters and posts drain the water away.
Water may still enter in situations such as:
- Rainfall beyond the drainage system’s design capacity
- Opening the louvres shortly after heavy rain
- Water splashing from gutters or surrounding surfaces
- Condensation on the louvres, frame or posts
- Strong or changing winds
Furniture and flooring under the roof should therefore be suitable for outdoor use.
Important: Lamaxa L50 Tex uses non-weatherproof awning fabric. The fabric must be retracted when rain begins. Automatic control using rain, wind and sun sensors is recommended.
Lamaxa louvred roofs are calculated for a maximum permissible wind speed of 13.4 m/s in accordance with DIN 1991-1-4. For higher wind speeds, a predefined safety position can be configured depending on the order length:
- Order length over 5.1 m: louvres opened to at least 90°
- Order length up to 5.1 m: louvres closed
Lamaxa fabric roofs achieve wind resistance class 4 according to DIN EN 13561, with a maximum permissible wind speed of 13 m/s. The product-specific operating instructions and configured weather controls must be observed.
Tests without additional supports, tension cables or comparable stabilisation determined the following maximum load-bearing capacities:
- Lamaxa L60 and L70: up to 350 kg/m²
- Lamaxa L50: up to 230 kg/m²
Loads at these levels cause permanent deformation and are not permissible operating loads. The actual structural design depends on the system dimensions, number of posts, fixing method and installation location. Exceeding the project-specific limits can damage or destroy the roof system.
Lamaxa L50, L60 and L70 can be planned for installation on rooftop patios. The structural requirements and applicable wind and snow loads must be checked for the individual project.
Planning must consider:
- Product weight
- Load-bearing capacity of the roof
- Installation height
- Fixing or ballasted base plates
- Sealing of the roof surface
- Terrain category and wind-load zone
- Wind and snow-load limits
- Additional loads from ZIP awnings, fixed walls, glass systems or sliding shutters
A structural engineer, planner or architect must calculate the foundations, fixings or ballast required for the project. Suitable weather sensors must be included to protect the system against changing wind and weather conditions.
