ZIP screens are window awnings with the fabric retained laterally in guide rails. WAREMA easyZIP guidance uses a zip-based edge connection to guide the fabric along both sides. Available products, dimensions and wind ratings depend on the selected model and installation.

A ZIP screen uses a lateral zip profile to retain the fabric in the guide rails as it moves. This can reduce lateral light gaps and fabric movement compared with systems that guide only the end rail.

The applicable wind resistance depends on the product, dimensions, fabric, fixing, building position and installation. Selected WAREMA easyZIP window awnings can also be combined with the VisioNeo railing system when the specified product configuration and building requirements permit it.

Technical information for architects and specialist planners is available under architectural window awnings Availability and dimensions vary by product and country.

WAREMA ZIP screens are available with different box and cover-panel configurations. The suitable solution depends on the façade build-up, window detail, inspection access and selected product.

  • Concealed configuration: Selected products can be integrated into the façade or an on-site shaft. The box or cover panel is less visible when the system is retracted. The façade detail must allow inspection and maintenance access.
  • Visible configuration: Front-mounted boxes or cover panels remain visible on the façade and can be used for renovation and new-build projects. Colours and surface finishes are selected from the available WAREMA Colour World options for the specified product.

A ZIP screen is an exterior fabric shading system in which a zip profile along each fabric edge runs inside the side guide rails. WAREMA calls this lateral guidance easyZIP. The design can reduce lateral light gaps and limit fabric movement, but performance depends on the complete product configuration and installation.

In a ZIP screen, a zip profile at each side of the fabric runs within the guide rail. This supports lateral fabric guidance throughout travel and produces a more closed surface than systems without lateral fabric retention.

Key characteristics:

  • Wind resistance: Selected tested configurations are specified for wind speeds of up to 150 km/h when extended. The permitted limit depends on product, dimensions, fabric, fixing and installation position; the applicable technical documentation and operating instructions take precedence.
  • Reduced lateral light gaps: The guided fabric edges can limit light entering at the sides. A completely light-tight closure is not guaranteed.
  • Controlled fabric travel: The lateral profiles keep the fabric engaged in the guide rails during movement.
  • Fabric appearance: Lateral guidance can reduce movement and support a tauter appearance; some movement and waviness can still occur.
