The EU Directive 90/270 took effect on 01 January 1997. Since then, all workstations are required to meet the specifications of this directive.
The EU directive was enacted by the European Union and is designed to protect people at the workplace.
Employers are held legally responsible according to accident prevention regulations and labour protection laws. Employers can be fined and forced to pay for damages.
Inspections are carried out by the labour inspectorate, trade associations and other agencies.
