On 1st July 1955 Hans-Wilhelm Renkhoff  and Karl-Friedrich Wagner founded WAREMA in Marktheidenfeld to manufacture light metal venetian blinds. Their first "factory" was a stable, but this quickly became too small,
with the result that they started construction on the first section of
what was to become today's Head Office.

After the accidental death of Karl-Friedrich Wagner in 1958, Hans-Wilhelm
Renkhoff took over sole management of the company. Since that time
turn-over, profit and staff numbers grew steadily under his leadership.
By 1962 the company already had 128 employees and ten years later this
figure had reached 631. Hardly a year went by when
extensions or additions to the company's premises were not necessary. In
1970, the annual turn-over of the Group was EUR 16 million. In 2000
turn-over exceeded EUR 200 million for the first time. The production
range was also continuously increased until it reached today's wide range
of custom-made products and their variants.

Angelique Renkhoff-Mücke entered her father's company in 1998. By
this time she had already gathered a lot of practical management
experience during the time she spent on the successful development of a
medium-sized trading company. In 2001 Angelique Renkhoff-Mücke was
appointed to be Chairwoman of the Management Board of  WAREMA Renkhoff Holding AG. The five companies of the WAREMA Group have been jointly following a new strategy since the beginning of 2002. The new strategy concentrates the companies' activities on their core competence of sun-shade technology. As part of this strategy, all the companies conduct their business under the WAREMA name. The strategy has already proved to be another successful step into the future as turn-over reached approx. EUR 268 million in the year 2006 (previous year EUR 234 million, increase of + 14.4 % compared to the previous year).

The hand-over between the generations in this family business has been successfully concluded. From 1999 to 2006 Hans-Wilhelm Renkhoff still supported the company as Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
After his age-related withdrawel from working life he can now enjoy his well-deserved retirement being fully aware that the WAREMA family business will be successfully continued. 
The tiny WAREMA grew to become Europe's leading manufacturer of all types of solutions for sun-shade technology, including controls. The WAREMA Group is now a valued, knowledgeable and innovative partner for both large and small projects at home and abroad.

To emphasize our objectives in international business, WAREMA Renkhoff Holding AG and WAREMA Renkhoff GmbH merged into WAREMA Renkhoff SE (European Incorporation) in September 2009.
